Mike Lazaridis
RIM
Founder and CEO
Chances are, you or someone you know owns one.
“The market opportunity for smartphones is incredible” Lazaridis once uttered, before going on to sell over 50 million BlackBerry handsets.
In the first quarter of 2009, the BlackBerry Curve actually outsold the iPhone 3G, and they are keen to replicate that success with the launch of the Curve 8520, which is aimed at the lower-end of the market.
If RIM can place a highly-priced handset in over 50 million pockets, then surely a cheaper model with targeted marketing can go on to sell millions. At least, that’s the logic in Lazaridis’s mind.
